Psychosocial factors also influence the severity of symptoms. Current findings show that this disorder is caused by the interaction between hormonal factors and the central nervous system and that both pharmacological and psychosocial methods can reduce the symptoms of this disorder. In mild cases, lifestyle changes are sufficient, while hormonal therapy and ceremonin reuptake inhibitors are used in severe cases.
