Discitis is a condition in which the spinal discs become infected, often affecting the surrounding vertebral bodies. This procedure is performed to control the infection, diagnose and relieve symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Diskit_Nedir\"><\/span><strong>What is discitis?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Diskit<\/strong>is defined as an infection of the spinal discs. It is usually bacterial or rarely fungal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This infection usually develops when the discs become infected through the blood. In some cases, it may occur after surgery or invasive procedures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discitis can cause severe back pain, limitation of movement, fever and sometimes neurological symptoms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Diskit_Prosedurunun_Amaclari\"><\/span><strong>Objectives of the Diskit Procedure<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To diagnose the source of infection (bacterial, fungal, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stopping the progression of spinal infection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Relieving pain and stabilising the spine.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prevent complications (e.g. spinal deformity or nerve compression).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Diskit_Proseduru_Turleri\"><\/span><strong>Types of discitis procedure<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1_Tanisal_Prosedurler\"><\/span><strong>1. Therapeutic Procedures<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Antibiotic or Antifungal Application:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The antibiotic or antifungal medicine is injected directly into the disc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This is done to support systemic treatment and to allow the infection to be controlled more quickly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Decompression and Cleaning:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Surgically, infected disc tissue and dead tissue can be removed (discectomy).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This is done to relieve pressure on the nerve roots and clear the infection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Cerrahi_Mudahaleler\"><\/span><strong>3.
